Food Pantry

In Acts, chapter 6, we read that the disciples set apart seven followers who were full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom to distribute food to those who were hungry in Jerusalem.

Feeding those who are hungry has always been a priority for the faithful. On the Second Saturday of the month, The Shepherd’s Pantry opens in the Helping House, next door to the church at 265 W. Lady street. There are no requirements, no identification cards necessary. If you are hungry, we have food for you. The pantry is open from 10:00 a.m. to noon.

Youth Group

Kids are important to us at Good Shepherd, we even had a kid friendly area for the kids in the sanctuary! Activities for the children include: participating in the local Christmas parade, camping, pool party, and decorating the church Christmas tree.

Our youth help with social ministry projects, including caring for the community garden and helping at the monthly food pantry.

The youth group also hosts our annual Golden Age Luncheon for seniors in our church.

The youth recently began a new Sunday school format: Faith in Action. They have a 10-15 minute lesson and then work on various projects to help share God’s love with others.

BOTS (Boys of the Spirit) and GRITS (Girls Raised in the Spirit) meet the first Sunday of each month. BOTS is currently reading through the Action Bible and creating their own board game. GRITS learns about important women in the Bible through reading, crafts, and activities.
